pexels-photo-861034.jpegSo I saw a blog post that allowed other bloggers to respond to a one word prompt and share it for all the world to see. The word was: grasp. Now usually one word prompts are kind of difficult in the sense that you want a word that is powerful, yet not ordinary or cliché, but not something so specific that you can’t have any freedom writing about it. It can also be difficult to write about one word prompts because they can sometimes be so open that it’s just hard to choose a direction to go into. For some reason, when I thought of grasp I immediately started thinking of a little poem, so I decided to share it with y’all, especially since I have written about poetry on my blog in the past…

Grasp what?
The Ledge?
Well, I’m already there,
hanging by a thread.

Grasp who?
Hold out your hand.
Help me to stand
once more.

Feel free to give feedback and comments. I wrote this in like five minutes, but I love to hear what others have to say. It’s interesting to me how one word prompts are so hit and miss. Sometimes they really stir something in you and let the ideas flow, other times the words just kind of sprinkle you with hints of ideas, and sometimes they literally do nothing for you. It depends on the person, I think. Yesterday, for instance, the word was “captivate”, but it, ironically, didn’t captivate me at all. I guess that’s just another challenge of one word prompts.
